This song appeared on random play on my iPhone the other day and reminded me of how much I used to love this song, back in college when I first heard it (in fact there is a specific person that I used to think the lyrics spoke to me about but let's not get into that).  And the lyrics are indeed pretty "shocking" or they were when I first heard it, and are still pretty awesome today.  But I was surprised at the music, just how good it was (or still is).  I've long since lost my love for The Cure, but they were the first "alternative" band I ever got into -- my purchase of Disintegration in 1989 was the impetus for my permanent move away from the mainstream music I'd liked to that point -- and it's good to hear that such a beautiful song still makes me smile.  I'm not sure I have that kind of hate anymore though, or at least not directed toward any one person in particular.  Except my foot surgeon.
