Fireworks
I know it's a day early, but I'm leaving you with this post for the long weekend, which could not have been more anticipated given the past 3 weeks I've had. But the Phillies are still in first place (barely), I don't have to go back to Indiana next week like I'd feared, and the Tour de France starts on Saturday. So things are -- finally -- looking up. Enjoy the weekend. I'll see you Monday.

and I can't lift you up, my mind is tired
sand and beaches that I desire
sacred nights where we watch the fireworks drip on some faces
but I know I've got you

The Tour starts on Saturday? I'm not at all prepared. Where is the VS preview?

This is from Velonews...
In fact the list of race favorites heading into the last few Tours nearly doubles as a list of those who won't be contesting this year’s Tour — not one of the top seven riders from the 2005 Tour will return in 2008, while the eighth-place finisher that year, Cadel Evans, comes in as a heavy favorite.
Other favorites include Spaniards Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d’Epargne) and Carlos Sastre (CSC-Saxo Bank), Italian Damiano Cunego (Lampre) and Russian Denis Menchov (Rabobank).
sorry, that's all I got right now... It's tough to be excited with almost all of the stars from the past few years not racing this year. No Contador and Leipheimer and Kloden from Astana (team not allowed to race). No Vino or Rasmussen of course (haven't raced since being thrown out of last year's tour). No Michael Rogers due to injury. Armstrong, Ullrich, and Basso are long gone now. There's not much that's familiar. Also-rans Sastre and Valverde fighting to beat out Cadel Evans? I guess there's hope that some young star (Andy Schleck of CSC or the French hope for the ages, 22-year-old DiGregorio) emerges like Contador last year, or maybe because it's such a mountain-heavy tour the Euskatel boys (Zubeldia, Astarloza) could make a run. Who knows? I'll have to watch a few stages to get into it probably.

Hey are we gonna have a pool? Everyone throw in $25, we'll hold a draft and each guy drafts 10 riders?

I'm in!
