We're up to #8 on my list of favorite bands, with the Austin, TX-based Explosions in the Sky. The band got off to a rocky start when their second album, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever, was released on August 27, 2001. Poor timing, that, for a band with the name Explosions in the Sky, especially with cover art featuring an airplane with the caption "this plane will crash tomorrow." In fact, the bassist was detained by airport security for having those words written on his guitar. But alas, the album was absolutely brilliant, and the follow up for Temporary Residence, The Earth is Not a Cold, Dead Place is one of the best pieces of post rock ever put to music. They owe a lot of their sound to Mogwai, of course, but their music contains no lyrics in any song (Mogwai occasionally dabbles in singing). The power is purely in the guitars, creating a tension and dynamic release that's rarely been duplicated in musical history. They toned down their performance for the quieter, more mellow moments of the Friday Night Lights soundtrack in 2004, and then revved back up for 2007's All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone. It's been a nonstop rush of great albums since their debut (the self-produced How Strange, Innocence) and they have truly become leaders in the field of post-rock, and for in my opinion, in independent music. But don't take my word for it, here's illustrious ESPN sports guy, Bill Simmons, from a recent mailbag:
Q: Do you realize that listening to Explosions in the Sky, the band that does most of "Friday Night Lights" music, can make any normal experience epic? I walked my dog [while] wearing headphones and listening to them, and by the end of the walk, I felt as if I had experienced something truly life-altering. I am currently trying to apply the "Explosions Theory" to many other aspects of my life, such as showering, vacuuming and doing laundry.
-- Owen, ClevelandSG: Couldn't agree more. I wish there was a way to pump that music into every bathroom in my house. I'm also amazed none of the presidential candidates has used Explosions in the Sky for their campaign. You could show me a 30-second ad of John McCain trying to pass out a kidney stone to that music and I'd probably want to vote for him afterward.

My name is Tina Cott and i would like to show you my personal experience with Yasmin 28.
I am 28 years old. Have been on Yasmin 28 for 4 years now. I am no longer going to be taking any hormones. this is the worst thing you can do. unfortunately, it's the easiest birth control but it's not worth the pain i've been through. and what's the point of it, by making you abstain? i hardly ever wanted sex anymore. i wish i could get those 4 years back.
I have experienced some of these side effects -
loss of sex drive, severe mood swings.
I hope this information will be useful to others,
Tina Cott
