It's been a hectic weekend unfortunately, so I don't really have time for an in-depth post today. Instead, we'll just have a blast of tracks that have made it into my playlist over the past week. Enjoy.
LCD Soundsystem- Download LCD Soundsystem - "Big Ideas".mp3
- From the forthcoming soundtrack to the movie "21" about Las Vegas and blackjack
- Pre-order from Amazon.
- Cloud Cult
- Download Cloud Cult - "When Water Comes to Life".mp3
- From the forthcoming album Feel Good Ghosts (Tea-Partying Through Tornadoes), due April 8th.
- Pre-order from Amazon.
- Los Campesinos!
- Download Los Campesinos - "You! Me! Dancing!".mp3
- From the forthcoming Hold On Now Youngster, a punk/indie rock mashup that is pretty damn wonderful. Due April 1st from Arts & Crafts or available right now, today, at Emusic. Note: "You! Me! Dancing!" is not one of the better tracks on the album, to my ears, so go check out the rest at Emusic and be pleasantly delighted.
- Pre-order from Insound.
- MGMT
- Download MGMT - "Kids".mp3
- From current album Oracular Spectacular
- Purchase from Amazon.
Bon Iver- Download Bon Iver - "Re: Stacks".mp3
- From current album, that I had mostly dismissed on first listen, but that is growing on me, For Emma, Forever Ago
- Purchase from Amazon.
- The Raveonettes
- Download The Raveonettes - "Hallucinations".mp3
- Lust, Lust, Lust was released in February and I still don't know what to make of it. It's a little too '60s for me, but there's definitely an undercurrent of Jesus & Mary Chain, which I like. I do love this track though.
- Purchase from Amazon.
- The Diggs
- Download The Diggs - "Recovery Forever".mp3
- NYC-based band that has a debut album releasing on SugarSpun Records on March 11th. A little bit of a shoegaze vibe in this track from ctrl-alt-del. It's pretty great.
- Pre-order from Amazon.
- Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova
- Download Glen Hansard and Marketa Iglova - "Falling Slowly".mp3
- The song from Once that won Best Original Song on this year's Oscars, which I celebrate because (a) it beat out three Disney tracks from some presumably horrible kids' film Enchanted and (b) Jon Stewart let Marketa come out again after Bill Conti played them off the stage before the Czech classicist could speak. Jon Stewart rules. Marketa was cute. This song is just a little too cloying for me, but hey, you might like it.
- Order The Swell Season from Amazon (it came out in 2006).
- Order the Once soundtrack (it came out more recently).
Lots of folks confuse bad management with destiny.
