Blowout version.
- The new Radiohead album is only available at their website, and it's free - or close to it, although you can pay whatever you want for it. The songs are only 160kps, so if that matters to you, wait to buy the actual CD (coming out in January) or spring for the $80 box set (coming out in December). Either way, I'd love to say it's a great new album, but I'm not feeling it yet. There are a few good songs, though, including this one.
M83 has released a new "ambient" album that definitely diverges from the battering rock beats on previous albums, and maybe it's only exploring Anthony Gonzalez's fascination with Brian Eno, but it's pretty damn excellent in its own right. Buy the album here. This song - the longest on the album - absolutely blows me away.
- Speaking of blowing me away, the new four-song EP by Jesu, titled Lifeline, which is apparently their 5th new album of 2007, is absolutely brilliant. I loved their full-length Conqueror earlier this year, and this is a logical extension of that wonderful release. Buy it here.
- Band of Horses new album Cease to Begin is currently on sale for only $7.99 at Amazon. So go freaking buy it. What are you waiting for? Oh yeah, it's got some pretty good tracks too.
- Former lead singer of Arab Strap, Malcolm Middleton, released a debut solo album earlier this year that has some great tracks on it - including this wonderful Arab Strap-esque tune below. Buy the album here.
- Oh you're so silent no longer, Jens. The new album is a boisterous explosion of original music, with a lot of songs that don't really work for me, but this track below is one of the best of the collection. Buy Night Falls Over Kortedala here.
- LCD Soundsystem has a collection of remixes and "other stuff" from their Sound of Silver album available in a new EP. Included is this Franz Ferdinand cover of one of the best songs of the year, "All My Friends" and they do a pretty great job.
- The Got to Get Got is a Canadian band (from Vancouver, I think) who released their first EP earlier this year, which included this scorching song that's getting play on CBC Radio 3 (Sirius satellite station 94). Check it out. And check out their myspace page (because that's the only place I can find their music online).
- And finally, Eef Barzelay (formerly of Clem Snide) has a new album coming out in 2008 that has the brilliant track below on it. He also soundtracked the limited release summer movie Rocket Science (which fictionally took place in nearby Plainsboro, NJ). Buy the soundtrack here.
Holy cow! I came for the Band of Horses and I stayed for the M83. Thats some good shite man! Enough to bring a grown man to tears.
