I don't have much to say about it, because I'm really not sure what the fuck happened at the end, but I guess it was enjoyable. Charlie died, which I was looking forward to, but because they redeemed him in the past couple episodes, I actually was mildly upset to see the little Hobbit go. He was the only "good guy" to meet his fate, though, as the Losties basically kicked the Others' asses in this episode and wiped out a whole slew of them, including Big Tom, who I'm going to miss, and a bunch of random baddies that I won't. Also, the two chicks in the Looking Glass station don't survive (including the one who played "Laura" - the girl that Steve Sanders has a brief one-night-stand with in college and later claims he date-raped her on a "very special" episode of Beverly Hills 90210). And Mikhail takes a harpoon to the back, delivered by Desmond, and somehow survives it. He seems unable to ever die, much like Locke, who comes back from the dead with visions of Walt (or was it the actual Walt?) and then somehow finds the Losties at the radio tower and shoots Naomi in the back just as she's about to signal their way off the Island. Then Jack grabs the satellite phone and, despite Locke threatening to shoot him and Ben's warnings about the nefariousness of Naomi's crew (possibly confirmed by Penny telling Charlie that she doesn't know who Naomi is right before Charlie dies), Jack signals their boat and whoever picks up seems all too eager to come "rescue" them. Then of course, we flash forward to the flash-forward that we've been watching the whole episode (that we all thought was another lame flashback), this time with a drug-addled Jack pleading with Kate to go back to the Island and Kate (looking clean and refreshed) refusing. So yeah, quite a lot happened.
How about a summary of this confusing episode in list form?
Jack and Kate (and at least one more person) got off the Island- Jack became addicted to OxyContin (and alcohol?) upon his return to the U.S. and contemplates suicide after reading about someone (from the Island?) dying
- Charlie's dead (Dominic Monaghan confirmed it)
- Locke's alive
- Mikhail doesn't die
- Ben's been blocking transmissions off the Island without telling his tribe-mates for years now
- Rousseau finally meets her daughter (Alex)
- Hurley saves Sayid, Jin, and Bernard from certain death with the VW bus from earlier in the season
- Jin's aim is suspect (perhaps this is why he had such trouble impregnating Sun)
- Tom (an Other) and Naomi (an unknown?) are dead
- Penny discovers via satellite (and Charlie) that Desmond is alive. But Naomi is not working for her
- Most of the Others (at least the men) were killed in this episode by the dynamite explosions on the beach and later, by Sayid and Hurley and Sawyer (each of them got one, with Sawyer shooting Tom in cold blood). Certainly doesn't seem like the "bad guys" have much chance of causing any more damage without reinforcements (Naomi's boat?)
- Locke's bat-shit crazy and REALLY doesn't want off the Island
- Kate's probably pregnant and had a kid (which is why she doesn't want to go back?)
- Ben had captured and brainwashed Carl so that he didn't get his daughter pregnant (a death sentence on the Island)
- Jack's father is either alive in the future (alternate universe?) or Jack imagines he is due to the OxyContin (red herring?)
- Jack's been taking repeated Oceanic flights (on a "Golden Pass") in the hopes of a crash that takes him back to the Island (he also has maps laid out in his house, perhaps trying to figure out where the Island is).
- In the 16 years since Rousseau put her distress signal into the radio tower, none of the Others did anything about it or never went back to the radio tower
- And of course, the biggest secret yet to be revealed in this episode... who was in the casket at the black funeral home in the poor neighborhood that Jack visits - whose death had Jack contemplating suicide and desperately, repeatedly calling Kate for her reaction. Two more notes:
- The name of the funeral home, Hoffs Drawler, is an anagram for "Flash Forward," which cleverly confirms that this was a flash forward, not some bizarre flashback where Kate and Jack knew each other (although that doesn't explain Jack's assertion that the doctor should check with his father upstairs to see who is drunker).
- The newspaper clipping that Jack is looking at is below. It looks like the first name of the deceased is "Jo..." and the last name is "...antham" and HE is from New York. Who the hell is that? Doesn't seem like anyone we've met before. Also the word "beam" appears after "discovered" (the body?), so it looks like a suicide. Any theories? Anyone?
- Next new episode is not until after the Super Bowl in February I've heard. Is that true? If so, that's a hell of a long time to wait for the answers. I'm very much expecting not to really care at that point.

The big plasma screen TV in the hospital, not to mention Jack's new KRZR cellphone were also clues that we were in the future. But Kate should be in jail. They'll have to come up a reasonable explanation (which I'm sure they won't), as to why she was apparently pardoned for all the deaths she's responsible for.
I guess I'm glad Ben's still alive.

Yeah, everyone was talking about the KRAZR, but I didn't notice it. Kate's not in jail because they're in an alternate universe, obviously.

They answered a whole bunch of the stupid mysteries they incorporated and now I think they've got a fresh start. They have been given 3 seasons to finish the show so let's hope they do something good with it.
I personally think that season 4 will feature a diminished cast. Claire and the baby IMHO won't be part of it. And they obviously ARE going to return to the damn island. And there are probably really evil scientists on it now.
And why the hell did they have to introduce another supernatural, Jacob thingy?!

I haven't been up to anything. My mind is like an empty room, but such is life. Maybe tomorrow. Today was a loss, but eh.

More or less nothing seems worth thinking about. Not much on my mind today. Today was a total loss. My mind is like a bunch of nothing, but maybe tomorrow. So it goes. I just don't have much to say recently, but whatever.
