Here is a ranking of the full albums that I have purchased so far this year (that were released this year). I think it's been a record for new albums in 3 months, at least for me.
- And this is absolutely the best Modest Mouse track since 2000's The Moon and Antarctica. What a great song. Go buy the album please if you enjoy the song as much as I do.
2. Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
6. Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway (re-release)
8. Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha
9. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - Some Loud Thunder
10. Bright Eyes - Four Winds (EP)
11. Eluvium - Copia
12. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
- Download LCD Soundsystem - "New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down".mp3
- An amazing song on an otherwise disappointing album, at least for me. But I'm not really into dance music at all. The three non-dance tracks, especially this one and "All My Friends" are great. The rest I can't get into.
13. Apostle of Hustle - "National Anthem of Nowhere"
14. Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Strange Form of Life (EP)
15. Great Lake Swimmers - Ongiara
16. M. Ward - To Go Home (EP)
17. Bloc Party - A Weekend in the City
18. Au Revoir Simone - The Bird of Music
New York, I love you but you're bringing me down
New York, I love you but you're bringing me down
Like a rat in a cage, pulling minimum wage
New York, I love you but you're bringing me down
New York, you're safer and you're wasting my time
Our records all show you were filthy but fine
But they shuttered your stores when you opened the doors
To the cops who were bored once they'd run out of crime
New York, you're perfect, oh please don't change a thing
Your mild billionaire mayor's now convinced he's a king
And so the boring collect. I mean all disrespect.
In the neighborhood bars I'd once dreamt I would drink
New York, I love you but you're freaking me out
There's a ton of the twist but we're fresh out of shout
Like a death in the hall, that you hear through your wall
New York, I love you but you're freaking me out
New York, I love you but you're bringing me down
New York, I love you but you're bringing me down
Like a death of the heart
Jesus, where do I start?
But you're still the one pool
Where I'd happily drown
And oh.. Take me off your mailing list
For kids who think it still exists
Yes, for those who think it still exists
Maybe I'm wrong and maybe you're right
Maybe I'm wrong and maybe you're right
Maybe you're right
Maybe I'm wrong
And just maybe you're right
And Oh..
Maybe mother told you true
And there'll always be somebody there for you
And you'll never be
alone
But maybe she's wrong, and maybe I'm right
And just maybe she's wrong
Maybe she's wrong, maybe I'm right
And if so,
here's this song.
Very nice choices, I think my list would be pretty close to yours. I agree Spitting Venom is an amazing song. I would have Do Make Say Think at number one though, its quite incredible I believe. Also Menomena and Besnard Lakes would feature in my top ten. I'm just listening to Panda Bear now, and loving it. Any opinions on it?

I do love the Do Make Say Think album. I haven't listened to Panda Bear except for one or two songs that I didn't like. I'll have to check it out. As for Menomena, I love "Wet and Rusting" but the rest that I heard, I just didn't go for it, so I never go the album. Again, I might have to reconsider.
